E-commerce in India has been buzzing for sometime now with the likes of FlipKart.com, Infibeam.com and Futurebazaar.com showing that Indian are now more and more comfortable in shopping online.
Riding on this buzz is a new entrant to the online marketplace with an “Everything Indian” theme. Shopo.in lists Indian handicraft, designers and homemade products. The marketplace caters to both sellers and buyers. Working on a business model similar to eBay, the site hopes to make money on listing/transaction. Although all new sellers currently get 30 listing absolutely free.
Shopo.in has been started by Krithika Nelson, an experienced campaigner in the field of Indian Handicrafts and Theyagarajan S, an engineer from NIT Trichy. Krithika is responsible for the seller communication and branding while Theyagarajan takes care of the technology and operations. The website is still in beta stage but has gained lot of attention from media and their prospective customers. They also have a few emerging competitors in this field.
i ordered Tantrum shoes Anastasia around the 20th september. till today it hasnt been delivered. it says 15 days minimum, but i guess there is no maximum to it. neither Shopo nor the seller will ever try to contact you in case of details or shipment updates. Finally your money will be refunded and the order gets cancelled.
Eventually I dont trust Shop for gifting on occassions. This has happened with me twice. My friend’s farewell, her gift dint come till 12 days. I got my money back, but eventually she dint get any gift. And now my friends birthday, her gift has been due since a month but now it has been cancelled.
